Howdy all! Just came across the forum and thought this looked like a good way to get involved! So here goes...
1. What name do we know you by on Sellaband? - Thom Cross
2. What are you on Sellaband? - Artist
3. Tell us something about yourself New Zealand born and bred. Based in Europe for the last 5 years developing my musical trade. Now divide my time between the two places! Have just recorded my debut EP (which you can listen to on my page - hint hint!)...
4. How did you find out about Sellaband and what convinced you to sign up? Read about it in an article in the Guardian (UK newspaper). Thought it seemed like a unique idea worth trying!
5. What do you like/dislike about the concept? I like the fact it gives both artists and fans a great deal of control. Haven't been here long enough to discover anything I didn't like!
What tactics do you use to try and attract believers? Right now I'm just trying to introduce myself to as many people as possible. Once I'm up and running my Top Secret plan for Sellaband domination will swing into action! (Cue ominous bad guy laugh!)
Are there any other artists on Sellaband you're interested in or would like to work with? I've heard a lot of good artists here but again, have been more focussed on getting myself up and running. In time I'll get to listen more carefully and if the opportunity for collaboration comes up then great!
What would you like to achieve through your experience with Sellaband? Naturally 50K and the chance to record an album is top of the list! But also getting feedback from so many people about my own music is invaluable... in general terms just the positive experience of being involved in a community such as this is great...
Why should believers believe in you? Music is my life! This is ALL I do and I'm practically living under a bridge to make it a reality... I believe music should be passionate and emotional and make the listener feel something so if there are people here who love that kind of music then they should have a listen and think about believing in me!
Music is a complete labour of love and a lot of time and thought goes into each song, particularly during recording. Given the resources to record an album properly with professional expertise and guidance, I would like to think, and I would like believers to think, the possibilities are extraordinary!
So please do stop by, check out the songs and feel free to leave any feedback or other comments! Thanks for your time, I hope you enjoy and remember - great things happen when you believe!
Thom

1. What name do we know you by on Sellaband?TSM 2. What are you on Sellaband? (artist/believer/both)Believer 3. Tell us something about yourself.I'm Martijn, a 19 y/o student from Delft, The Netherlands. Along music I like sports, especially cycling. 4. How did you find out about Sellaband and what convinced you to sign up? I found out about SAB by the evil tricks of Rey Gamba. On his cyclingsite (www.cyclingcompetition.com) he once posted a link in the chatroom and since then (about 1.5 month ago) Im kinda hooked to it Eventually it became BlackJack that convinced me to actually believe by letting my replay their songs about 10 times a day... 5. What do you like/dislike about the concept?I like to discover new blood in the music industry and the wide variety of styles there is on SAB Believer questions:How do you decide what artists to support? First of all I don't really buy much parts. As a student Im not in position to do so, so you can see my wishlist as an additional believinglist. To get a spot on my wishlist I ofcourse have to like your music. Some activeness has its positive effect as well. I have removed some artist because of inactiveness already. I like to have a reason to check out their page so a regular page-update or some messages can do well Who are your current top 3 recommendations of artists to support and why?As they made me a believer I have to mention Black Jack, they are original in attracting new believers and give you the feeling like you're really in their 'family'. I also like the mix of rock and the Italian sound. Another artist I really like is Jess King. Her sweeping songs keep impressing me, and though just started she shows some activity aswell. Somewhat longer on SAB already is Trail. But they really rock. I like their sound so much they have been spot 1 in my wishlist since I first arrived on SAB Any other artists you're currently interested in?Currently Im interested in Thom Cross (not just because his post above me) He really makes good music and might aswell be turning into a new member of the community. Furthermore there are loads of other artists Im interested in, to see them check my profile. What advice would you give to artists who have just signed up to Sellaband?Put some time in SAB. Get to know how it works, get to know the way of communicating and get to know what believers want to see. And make a good start,, have a full loaded profile from the start so you show that you are really willing to make it and you won't disappoint your believers

This seems like a great way to introduce us, here goes; 1. What name do we know you by on Sellaband? - SUNSOMA 2. What are you on Sellaband? - An artist3. Tell us something about yourself. - I started the band about 7 years ago, and I have now got to a place where I am confident in my abilities as a singer and song writer. I have at least an albums worth of good material waiting to be recorded (that's after many many songs that are not that good!!) and I am just busting to record them. Our drummer Helen also plays for the British Navy in a band that is just about to tour America - Portsmouth in Virgina is their first stop and I am married to the bass player. We support Cancer Research and Oxfam in any way we can and as a result of one Oxfam gig we ended up on MTV this year. We have a single that is available to download from itunes called 'Wider' that was released at the end of 2005. If you read this and then buy one part in SUNSOMA, I will email you the album version as an MP3 but please do mention this offer when you buy! - www.sellaband.com/sunsoma4. How did you find out about Sellaband and what convinced you to sign up? - I was sent the link to sellaband by a friend and one look at the site was enough to know that the old model for the music industry was about to finally die and a new one was breaking through - which I now have the Honor of being a part of.5. What do you like/dislike about the concept? - As yet I am very happy and excited about it all as a concept, the real test though is when the first bands go live having recorded their music. Any thing could happen after that - if enough people buy downloads then presuming that SAB is linked to the Official Charts, an artist could chart. And then, well are you ready for a few million hits to the site and potential world wide recognition as the only real alternative to record companies? I hope so because we are. What tactics do you use to try and attract believers? - We have CD and download offers, but one has to be proactive on any site of this kind and that is our main task - to be part of and sink in - Someone once said to me "there is no door into the music industry, you just sink into it"Are there any other artists on Sellaband you're interested in or would like to work with? - I like a lot of music and some of the artists that I have heard on SAB are very good singers and there are some good songwriters. At the moment though all my time is spent on SUNSOMA and writing my own material - perhaps this will change in the future but right now we have to be focused on one thing. What would you like to achieve through your experience with Sellaband? - A well recorded album, every thing else will be linked to the efforts that it takes to achieve it in the first place and the way it is received once it is released. Why should believers believe in you? - We believe in SUNSOMA. We write songs with good melodies that exist because I have tasted the content personally and I am sure that what touches me will touch others.[ b]If you like what you have read please come and listen to our songs @ www.sellaband.com/sunsoma[/b][/color]

1) What name do we know you on SAB - campuslegend.com
2) What are you on SAB? - believer
3) Tell us something about yourself. 27 year old doctor from Birmingham England. Love music and watching live music with ideas of grandiosity (sorry doing psychiatry so continually diagnosing myself) that I can spot bands who will become big. Love travelling and listening to local music from the places I've been to.
4) How did you find out about SAB. From a website springwise which feature new business ideas. Stalking the site for about 1 month and decide to believe when I would play lights fade by cubworld continually throughout that time
5) What do you like/dislike about the concept? I like the idea that I can hear so much great music from around the world and hopefully help someone who would not have had the chance to fulfil their dream. I like that I can be my own A&R executive. Dr C Legend, SAB A&R Executive has a nice ring to it. I like the community feeling it fosters. I dislike the fact that you really feel that you know so much about people but then realise that you don't when you meet them in real life. On the otherhand it seems to be only nice people here. Thankfully the nice ones dont hang around. I can go on its so much to like. I also dislike that it take so long to get an album from one of your favourite artists. Really getting excited about the Cubworld and SP album. Just in time for summer.
6) Top 5. Cubworld and SP are set in stone top two. Knaekerbrodt, Sascha Vella and Nearfield in no particular order.
7) Others - F Rodino, Solidtube and Where have the Fakes Gone? Justice Levi should be doing a lot better.

1. What name do we know you by on Sellaband? MaWa www.sellaband.com/believer/mawa32. What are you on Sellaband? (artist/believer/both) Believer/Investor/Clown 3. Tell us something about yourself. Do I know you? I prefer to preserve a certain amount of privacy in the moment. For the rest of what I've decided to make "public", check out my profile (step over the parts where I proove, that I'm nuts). I just dislike the idea, that a simple Google search reveals my whole life togehter with all my stupid opions from yesterday. 4. How did you find out about Sellaband and what convinced you to sign up?Heart about it somewhere, weeks later clicked by accident on a link on "Ehrensenf" (funny German Internet video blog: www.spiegel.de/netzwelt/ehrensenf/ ) after work, about 6 hours later I was still reading and listening to the music, when I said to myself: ah, what the f..., you've have made so many "strange" type of investments in your life, now lets make one in something you really enjoy. I was very positivly surprised about the quality of some of the artists, well noticing their limited technical abilities, but also their wide range of presentations in just 3 songs. Not this type of radio lalala, which all sounds the same. Well being rather a business person I would say, that, what was available in terms of "business case" and "terms and conditions" for all 3 parties was - far from being comprehensive enough - at least convincing and thoughtful enough to give it a go. Well, and I decided to go in with "real" money - and I decided to try to have fun spending it. 5. What do you like/dislike about the concept?A devils advocate could say, that the SAB concept is one of the oldest there is: - the artists are the "whores" - the believers are the "punters" - the SAB people are the "pimps" (are here any censors around? I can't find the "acceptable behaviour policy" anymore) Well there is a couple of discussions going on, whats good, what not, what can be improved. One very strong sentence which I heart a couple of times goes: "It is (or should be) ALL about the music". Truth for me is, it isn't. SAB as of now is in a quite volatile state (some events during the last "competition" proove this) and based on the concept it will probably always be a very "on the edge" type of thing. Well for me it looks like this: if good, dedicated and hard working artists are allowed to get their chance here, thats fine. If I get good music, some fun AND a return on investment, this is good enough for me. SAB needs to solve the problem of getting more "believers", it needs a constant stream of fresh money coming in. If it really is able to "make" money, there may be a kind of self-propelling effect, but as of now it needs to get to a "critical mass", as well as to proof itself, and as well without "killing" the community which has gathered here so far. The SAB people indeed have quite an interesting job And I hope they have good lawyers, at the time they'll need them. B1 How do you decide what artists to support?I'm in business, I can't affort to have too many principles. Sure, I initially prefer my own taste in music. B2 Who are your current top 3 recommendations of artists to support and why?Mandyleigh Storm: / the voice and the music hooked me on to the whole SAB system / she is already quite close to get her chance to record her CD, which should do a big deal to bring out the best of her and her music / she's working her butt of / she and Gary (her husband) really deserve it, if not only for their sense of humor - I think, the stuff with the "shaving legs" and the fart jokes really cracked me up www.sellaband.com/mandyleighSolidtube - because they are from Austria (unlike me ;D ) www.sellaband.com/solidtube/Matt Byers - beautyful compositions, delivered with honesty from the heart www.sellaband.com/mattbyers/B3 Any other artists you're currently interested in?Quite a lot, look at my page: www.sellaband.com/believer/mawa3/B4 What advice would you give to artists who have just signed up to Sellaband?1) Delete your entry immediatly. Listen to your mom and dad, get a decent job and go on with your live. Being an artist is one of the hardest jobs there is just for making a living. For becoming "famous/rich/whatever" your chances are much smaller than the jackpot in the lottery. Walk away, don't look back. 2) If you are still reading this, maybe because you're doing what you are doing already for too long, its going to be very tough. Get all the information you can get, ASK for help, if you don't know what to do. You have to give 120 % in this, or you will not make it. Then there is the real world, here your other 120% are required. 3) If after a month on SAB you still have no parts, go back to point 1). You lack talent, dedication and luck. Or you're plainly stupid, go feed yourself to the dogs. 4) If you are still here: It will get much harder in the future, consider point 1) again. If you do not listen, my advise does not matter anyway. Other brainless people may start believing in you. So far...

1. What name do we know you by on Sellaband?Bim ! 2. What are you on Sellaband? (artist/believer/both)Artist / Both : ) 3. Tell us something about yourself. Our easy reading bio, reads: Born of love and inspiration in the Spring of 2007, ' bim ' has captured the creative energies of singer/performer Rebecca Rosier and composer/producer Tim Davis. Think trip-hop, pop and electronica mixed intelligently with that little extra something. This is ' bim '! I think that just about sums things up : ) 4. How did you find out about Sellaband and what convinced you to sign up?Through the great band Second Person. My sister animated the video to 'Gone Fishing', and I was pushed from there to join up... I spoke to Mark Maclaine (SP) about the whole system (and my worries) and had confidence in this great scheme from there on! 5. What do you like/dislike about the concept?Like: Fans getting involved with a band, to a personal level. The messages and intermingling is fantastic. Dislike: The un-answered questions, and the fact it is difficult to explain the system to others! They have so many questions, which are not that straight forward to answer... What tactics do you use to try and attract believers?Free Mp3's, personal messages to every believer, and spreading a warm word around sellaband about us : ) Are there any other artists on Sellaband you're interested in or would like to work with?Maitreya - (remix on the way..) Second Person What would you like to achieve through your experience with Sellaband? Not only recording a highly invested first album - to have the personal fans (believers) come along with us for the journey. I have seen the excitement of everyone for every artist pushing over $50,000... I can't wait to feel that with my own believers, it makes me grin thinking about it : ) - it would also be a positive step into the music industry, as a composer and producer (Tim Davis). Why should believers believe in you?The Music. The Music. The Music. The Music. The Music. - and the absolute blind faith we put into it. Please accept the invitation to come over to our page and listen! www.sellaband.com/bimHope everyone has a great week, BIM ! xx

1) Docnik 2)I "manage" the Band Solid Tube here/ Believer 3) + 4) I´m to old for a work like this here ;-) But what would you do, if your sister had a voice like Mandana. So I learned much about Web 2.0, I´m learning english every day - thanks to God for the invention of dictionaries. I´m reading profiles and listen to Artists. I try to make a Page on Myspace. All these fine things I never mentioned to do. Oh and there is my work too. I´m really a Doc in a small village in Austria, as a general practitioner. A day has 24 hours. in the last month, I slept at max. 5 hours in the night. When I come home from work, I start to work ;-) But I´ve choosen to do so. Mike, our guitarist founded SellaBand last Novemver. He built a Profile and that´s it. To much work and too less time. In April around 20th, I decided to help them. On April 21st I started. I took Solid Tube with 1195 View & 785 plays & $210 (my first part included) 5) I like the close contact between Believers and Artist. There is a core of members and they are really great personalities. I´m proud to know some of them. What I dislike.....mmmmmh sometimes the software ergonomics could be tuned a little bit better. Support for the Artist Solid Tube: I Try not to spam. I´m reading profiles, look on Myspace, chek out Blogs.... SAB is a family. We all have one commonality: Music. I try to be friendly and notice hundreds of Believer. I check the music and new songs of other Artists. Believer: I decide what I like, I´m open for any style of good music (maybe exept Speedmetal) My Top 3 Artists: Solid Tube, hehehe www.sellaband.com/solidtube Vegas Dragons, Brian for the world www.sellaband.com/vegas_dragons Matt Byers, to play Country is not a shame www.sellaband.com/mattbyers

And the band has got a lot more of attention since you're involved in Solid Tube DocNik and is growing now on SellaBand. Happy 3k I still think solid tube is one of the under-rated bands on SellaBand.

1. Euhmm... MightyB Not that I consider myself to be 'mighty', it's just a name I used playing Heroes of Might & Magic in the old days . Yes, I am a nerd and I'm proud of it ! ;D So yes, I'm still single... 2. BelieverActually, I guess SAB is the only 'religion' I'm truly fanatical about ;D 3. I'm Bart (hence the 'B' ), 28 years young, born and raised in lovely Belgium (you know, the capital of Brussels ). Interests are music, beer (everyone knows Belgium is the beer-capital of the world ! ), filosophy and everything there is to know about those strange creatures roaming planet Earth called 'humans'. Don't really care about sports though, to be honest 4. Hmmm, I can't really remember... I spend hours on the internet daily, so I guess I've picked it up somewhere... What convinced me ? Well, having no musical talent myself, I do have the 'talent' to know what music is good and should be heard by everyone. I really enjoy being able to promote bands/artists I like by means of a small investment. Getting LE CDs from them once they reach the 50K is a surplus, since I'd probably would've bought their CDs anyway. Yes, I'm one of those people who still buys CDs and LPs ;D 5. Like : it's all about music, not about record companies and their profits. Dislike : my credit card bills B1. Very simple : I buy what I like. Whether if it's pop, rock, metal, folk, industrial, lounge, techno, lo-fi, experimental, house, singer/songwriter or whatever label people put on other people's music... The only genre I can't seem to grasp is jazz music B2. Top 3 : in no particular order, because I don't want to offend anyone... Mesa Street Exit : brilliant Irish rock band with some intruiging and surprising songs. Not so much main stream music, but hey, who cares about main stream anyway ? Marnie Mains : lovely lady with a beautiful voice, great songs and excellent writing skills. An angel with a riot gun stuffed with words on her back Headphone : excellent Belgian (!) band, lots of different styles combined in a bunch of great songs and hey, did I mention they're from Belgium ? Bim : very proud to be their first believer ! Rebecca and Tim will make it for sure ! Oh wait, it's supposed to be a top 3... Well, on to... B3. A lot ! Check the artists in my SAB-profile. They all deserve your attention.. I'm totally serial ;D (for those who like South Park ) B4. Do not set yourself on fire. Thank you all for reading !

1. What name do we know you by on Sellaband?Artist: Birds on a wire Believer: Birds on a wire I am not a difficult one... 2. What are you on Sellaband? (artist/believer/both)Well, both, I began as artist but lately I am starting to think I will do a better business as a believer than as artist... (believe me, believe me, believe me!!!) 3. Tell us something about yourself.I come from the smallest region in Itlay that is acalled "Valle d'Aosta". My home is on the Mont Blanc(White Mountain?) In this moment I am in Tuscany with my girlfriend but I hope to go back to the mountains soon (with my girlfriend, of course... ) 4. How did you find out about Sellaband and what convinced you to sign up?I read an article on an Italian review called "Specchio della stampa". What convinced me to sign up? Well, it's obvious, the will to get my money playing a guitar on a stage instead of using a PC in an office... 5. What do you like/dislike about the concept? I like the fact that SAB could give the chance to amateur musician like me hated by majors (Yes, they really hate me!... ) to try their chance, nothing to lose so I will have no more excuses. What I dislike? If I have to be honest I still don't understand a pair of things, so it would be difficult to say. Considering I am still convinced that my songs are the best that were ever written I am afraid that believers won't believe in things they are not used to and they will fall in the pit of believing the things they already believe. But, hey, this is my egocentricity speaking. it is still trying to understand how is it possible that after a month on SAB we didn't get to the 50k$ yet (60$, really, 20 from my girlfriend with my credit card and 20 from trading...). Don't like sometimes the impression that we are trying to be more kind than we are to have more people believing in our band. I am not saying anything bad, but in the beginning I did not understand the way it works. Must say that the things I like are much more than the things I dislike artists:What tactics do you use to try and attract believers?Well, I try to convince them that my music is the best they will ever hear! Are there any other artists on Sellaband you're interested in or would like to work with?Yes, there are many, but I am scared because beyond my egocentricity lie my fears What would you like to achieve through your experience with Sellaband?50k$, a professional recording, money and my name in the history of music...maybe not enough? Why should believers believe in you?Because my music is the best they will ever hear. At least, this is what I believe in believers:How do you decide what artists to support?Listening to their songs many times, there are many good artists, I put a little budget on SAB and so it is difficult to decide. I have to say that there is an artist I want to believe in and I did not still believed because...I am stupid. She is Wildcat and seh will be the next I will believe in. I will do because I think her songs ae really new, are really good and need to be believed. No, Wildcat is not my girlfriend, we never met, but I listened to her songs and I am sure she is a great musician. A little spot for Wildcat! Who are your current top 3 recommendations of artists to support and why?Birds on a Wire - because it is my band Wildcat - because i really love her songs Nearfield - because I relly love his songs Any other artists you're currently interested in?Myself and Blackjack. Well, many others but it is so difficult to decide What advice would you give to artists who have just signed up to Sellaband? Before everything go around and try to understand the way it works. Don't upload songs until it is not the best recording you can get, many people here are not professionals and want to hear good sounds, not only "potential ideas". Still my egocentricity looking for excuses...;D Hope I did not say anything bad, this is what I think. Thanks to everyone working on sellaband and in particular on this forum that gives a little chance more to understand how things work

1. Tomadde 2. Believer 3. I'm a full time music addict. After working too many years doing something I didn't like for too little money, I decided to start my own booking & management agency. The money's even worse now, but at least I get to do what I really want : discovering bands and helping them to make their way in the music scene ... 4. I received an add on myspace a couple of months ago, but I wasn't really interested at first. When I read an article in a Belgian rock magazine a couple of weeks ago I started thinking that maybe this thing could work ... so I signed up! 5. 50.000 dollar is a lot of money to gather for a band, and I believe many will give up earlier ... what happens with the money if a band decides to quit the sellaband program at 25.000 On the other hand, even if you don't make it all the way. It's still a great place to network and gain fans! A lot more efficient than myspace, because here it's not about how many "friends" you can get. Believers are a lot more likely to follow your band than "friends" on a myspace page. How do you decide what artists to support?Simple. If I like what I hear, they will get my support. I'll probably be buying one part for every band here that I really like ... the bands that I like AND that I believe have a future as a good selling artist will sell more parts to me. Who are your current top 3 recommendations of artists to support and why?1. Cloon, because I'm their manager, and I believe that this is one of those bands that could make it all the way, if given the right opportunities. 2. Bulletproof Messenger, because they're almost halfway and have the perfect heavy rocksound to make it! 3. Them Apples, because they are the Dutch Primus! And really nice guys too! Check 'em out. Any other artists you're currently interested in?I've only been here for a couple of weeks, so still a lot to discover! What advice would you give to artists who have just signed up to Sellaband? Spend a lot of time networking. Believers won't just come to you, you have to find them and convince them why they should believe in you. And once you've got that going, they will spread the word about your band too. It's all an exponential thing.
