Michaell Bogatzki has just responded personally and instantly via mail to one of the recording artists, stating that Make didn't buy Sellaband, but Sellaband GmbH.. Just for your information.

Maybe I don't know enough about corporate stuff, but what would be the difference between Sellaband and Sellaband GmbH?

As far as I understand the old Sellaband AG no longer exists, and a new company Sellaband GmbH bought the remains. And the latter being owned by a group of investors from Munich, with MB as CEO.. We'll probably find out more later today. Wouldn't be surprised when site reopens we'll find that funding/retrieving is frozen for a couple of days, so that they have enough time to get information (hopefully) to all artists/believers and to have everything settle down a bit... Let's just wait and see

It's more or less irrelevant if Make Music GmbH or Sellaband GmbH took over the Sellaband assets. Same main people. When I hear "a group of investors" I always research the individual ones (as far as they're known) because for me it's important to know how they have made their money. It tells much about entrepreneurship, know-how and management skills ;-)
I believe that the whole take-over plan was long in the making and the bankruptcy was "planned" in case SAB 3.0 wouldn't bring the much needed cashflow soon. The first few months it seemed that the "new" SAB was heading in the right direction, but very soon it turned out that they didn't change their approach, so the bankruptcy scenario was activated.
Relevant is only what the next steps will be. Unless we have a fortune teller among us ;-), but then I'd love the next lottery numbers first ;-)
Give the new owners a chance and don't project the mistakes of the previous SAB Directors on them.
As Lindy says: let's just wait and see.

I read a statement somewhere in a news article today from Johan V where he said that he had been very busy the last couple of months to find a buyer.. So yes, it was in the making for quite a while..

BTW, I remember that some of the Artist contracts that I've seen were made between Artist and Sellaband GmbH, which at that time was represented by Sellaband Verwaltungs GmbH's Johan Vosmeijer, residing at the constitutional Address of Sellaband GmbH.
Still it doesn't really matter, the whole bankruptcy scenario was planned and executed. Whatever the intentions of the new owners, they're bound for a certain period to keep to the contract as it should have been made between the Curator and the new owner.
Everybody has the right to get their funds returned and nobody forces you to be on the new SAB. I for one am grateful for the chance to pull back the small piggybank that I kept there. If I will do this immediately is the question. I hate to see a scenario where everyone runs for the bank, but again, the new owners must have thought of this scenario already.
But also try to stop defending the company in favour of silencing the critics. It is never constructive and changes for the better will not happen when the critics are silenced.
Good luck to everyone who'll go for crowd funding their music album. Good luck to all who want to help fund the artist's dream. Just don't hide behind the mistakes of a company to mask your own free will ;-)!
Wishing Sellaband GmbH wonderful, outspoken artists and wonderful, outspoken (or was it trolling) believers who both take responsibility for their own actions and decisions!

So according to the trustee there are 4 investors, one of them MB, another from spox.de, 2 others still unknown. Also says that take-over talks were already in progress before the bankruptcy.

Thanks Lindy, Spox.de is well known in Germany, very male (35+) oriented (and wasn't this one of the points that Pim Betist came up with as one of the reasons why Sellaband didn't work?).
It is a daughter company of Cresces (Cresces.net), which offers technical solutions. Again not a bad partner to take over SAB. Nothing in what I've found on Michael Bogatzki points in the direction of music publishing aside from music marketing, might have been a "lost in translation" thing.
It looks like a couple of men from a Munich Business Club have joined hands to take over SAB ;-). I've seen these kind of Investor friends taking over or starting companies more often. As long as they have the same vision it's actually a better scenario ...

Yes, I also found Cresces, looks rather respectable at first glance. And for now I'm just going to give them the benefit of the doubt. I'm curious to see when the site will be back online, although I suspect they'll have some work to do beforehand and it will not be before tonight. I won't be at home tonight so will check via my phone . I'm sure they've read a lot of the articles being published the last couple of days with all the previous mistakes mentioned. Let's hope they'll take a new approach (read: better).

LOL, they might have been observing and been active as a believer for quite a while already, so they might have read the SAB Forum as well ;-)

Ah wait, maybe they've been "trolling" on the forum too, just to drop the take over price ;-) Seriously, they must have a very clear vision of what they're going to do with Sellaband GmbH and having the community trust in ruins might actually not be so bad in their eyes. If you want to make dramatic changes it is best to do it when the service is at its lowest point. If you want to renovate then existing tenants are just a big pain in the proverbial ass ;-)
