Here is the pitch...
When artist signs up to Sellaband, they have to go out and promote themselves locally to get believers. Artists can get local gigs and connect with believers. However for the believes to invest, they need to
1 Find time to go online
2 Signup at Sellaband
3 Finally buy the part(s)
This three stage process would loose a believer who came out one night and really liked the music and was willing to buy some parts but is not inclined to do all the other steps.
I would like to propose physical believer cards; these are scratch cards that represent a part. Artists can prepay for as many cards as they want and then during local gigs, they can sell them to believers. Sellaband can sell advertising on the back of the cards to maintain the current advertising based revenue models.
If any of the believers who bought a card does go online and sign up, they can scratch off and enter the serial number on the back of the card they bought and it would show up as if the believer bought a part using the other payment methods.
This greatly simplifies artists promotional processes and yet adds very little complexity and cost to the Sellaband system.
Other advantages of these cards are
1) These cards processed differently open up several other believers that are currently locked out of Sellaband e.g. individuals under 18 or believers in predominantly cash based societies e.g. China, South America and Africa etc.
2) With the proper patent protection on the cards there is further protection against copy cat websites that will surely come up in this competitive world we live in.
Sellaband is truly a remarkable idea that will indeed help a lot of people who would otherwise never stand a chance of getting on the map.
