This morning I received the Cubworld album. An album that looks, and sounds, awesome! In my opinion there are some real potential hits on it.
So the first thing I did was driving to the local radio station and get two songs played (“Rocked Out” and “Wise World”). They asked me to leave the album there so they could play more later this week and even gave the opportunity to tell a bit about SellaBand. Later in the car on the way back home I heard “My World” in their sports program.
How to get the album played on the local radiostation?
My experience is that local radiostations always like it when people knock on their door and ask if they could watch how a program is made. I always show up unannounced at local stations throughout the country. They like the attention and mostly are interested in what songs you like and story you have to share (it might not end up the radio but sometimes does), if you stay long enough are willing to play your request or an song of the album you brought. So we all could become “pluggers” for Cubs album
Most local radio stations have request programs. Phone in and ask them to play Cubworld. If they tell you they don’t have the album tell them they can download 3 songs for free on sellaband.com or send them the album and phone in a week later telling them you send the album. It wouldn’t be a request program if they turn your request down. If they ask you to come in the program shout out “SellaBand” loud
But my local radiostation only reaches 10.000 people, does it make sense?
Even if the station has hundreds of listeners it could make a difference. Do never underestimate the power of music! Maybe someone buy’s the album, visit sellaband.com or tells others about it. You never know who is listening listeners might bring the music further (hypes sometimes start local and end up nationally.)
Isn’t it the task of the sellaband people to plug the album?
My opinion is that it’s SellaBands task to promote the music world wide and given the experience of the SellaBand staff I have no doubt they will use their contacts to plug the album on the bigger radiostations. But we have a task here as well. We can create a demand for the album the other way around!
Why Cubworld?
Ok, a bit personal opinion here. I think the album has some potential hits on it, especially in this time of the year.
The Nemesea album is in my opinion overproduced and I think DJ’s are less likely to play the songs without a request. But hey, if you like the album why not request it (on the same ways as stated above).
