I agree... I will not rejoin Sellaband again... Their bankruptcy has been all over the news today.... But what do you guys think of artists who decide to gather the money by themselves? with a good business plan ofcourse... Issue is trust. We have seen a lot of artists who promised the world but delivered nothing, also on Sellaband. At least with an agent of SAB in between, there is someone checking the artist. So no, unless you are called Marillion or another band that really is wellknown with an existing fanbase, I will not likely invest directly in an artist. Only exception on SAB might be my favorites: Ellie Williams, Angie Arsenault and Julia Marcell. But still there I would be cautious as they also probably lack the online exposure just by themselves to ever reach a target to be able to do something meaningful... |

For me it's absolutely frustrating  All the work and efforts artists and believers have put in this .. Do you think we are able to keep the community together? Anyway, I'm going to continue supporting artists if they have a future plan. I guess next issue of 50K MUSIC MAG will be much shorter |

It seems a bit previous to start shouting that you're not going to support whatever comes next for Sellaband. Whomever is thinking of taking this on will almost certainly be aware that there will be a lot of negative feeling about it and will presumably have a sound plan upon which to base their new business.
I'm certainly going to see what's what with the new owner before I start nailing my colours to the mast.
Finger's crossed that what rises from the ashes can combine what was always good about fund raising on Sellaband with a Music website!

If there is a new start for SellaBand I'll be dedicated anyway. But trust is what they have to build up first. Otherwise they will not get one believer back to invest, not to mention convincing new believers to join.
Hope they happily resolve this issue.

This board really brings out memories... Well, I recently emptied out my SAB investments, a wise decision apparently. Such great promise, but it all went from a simple one sentence presentation to something I couldn't figure out in the end.

IF someone buys SAB they better change the name at least. If you now Google Sellaband for the next few years at least probably the first page of Google hits will all about it's bankruptcy. Impossible to attract new believers that way.
Personally do not see it happening unless indeed someone like Apple buys it so the buyer can compensate with their own credibility.
A buyer unkown/unproven to the general publc? No chance.
Oh, and they better do a complete management change as well and hire a PR wizard.

I am going ahead with my CD regardless .. I wont let people like Alan Jansson down .. he has started the project and I have to see it through .. and same goes for those who invested .. I will report back here anything I find out .. I have TVNZ on the hook and they want me to call if I find out anything over night re the escrow and the rest of my budget .. or they are going to follow it .. tommorrow morning .. Hopefully with an overseas correspondent .. Might as well turn a negative into a postive ..  |
