Friends,
These are all valid points (and yes Lucretia, that is a correct interpretation of the conversation we had back in March). Front end / back end, for what it's worth we are aware that we are all in this together and will take all your suggestions into consideration. There comes a point though, when decisions have to be made, as tough as they may seem. And this was the moment to do it. To me the download thing was like this iceberg that I could see in front of us all the time. But I only saw the top and had no idea how big a monster it would be underneath the surface. Now we know, after countless talks with legal experts, publishing rights companies and collecting rights societies. The only way to sail past this iceberg was to take some drastic measures. And some really tight security measures as as well, because this thing is open to fraud and if somebody would want to harm us (the competition for example), they could easily have done that in the old situation. I will come back to you on the whole publishing thing, because in that area things are never black and white and not as simple as they seem, same goes for some amendments in the contracts.

Thank you Johan, please consider it. I have no problem with sellaband being at the front end of things under the new model, just that it seems to have done so at the reduction of the believers and artists portion. The artists have the back end 60% yet to compensate, but the believers do not. We're gone after 12 months. (any optional extension aside). All I ask is you see those particular facts from my point of view.
Sellaband HAS done things above and beyond the original plan. But so too, are believers more than $10 pre-purchase cd customers. We have become talent scouts, content builders, coaches, songwriters, therapists, promoters, salesmen, and that constant voice in the artist's ear that says don't give up, we're here for you. Sellaband has built a great vehicle to raise artists up, but the believers power that mighty engine with their hearts and souls just as frequently as with their wallets. Can you blame me for wanting that relationship to extend?
