Well lets do math like Johan suggested: Hmmm if i understand it welll, SellaBand has to pay 0,1$ per download, after leaving out the administration there is 0.08$ left, The artist get his 60% =0.048$ for three tracks makes 0,144$ So for every 1000 customers downloading all three songs the artist earns 144$ and SellaBand pays $300-$72=228$ Lets assume it' going to be very succesful and we get 1.000.000 downloaders who will download all 6 albums (3 tracks), that will cost Sellaband netto 1.368.000$ !! Well let's hope there will be a lot of airplay coming out of this and advertising revenue, otherwise it's almost like a doom scenario voor SellaBand. But knowing you guys, you have already anticipated on this luxury problem :-) #1 A million downloaders certainly means some increase to advertising returns, so this will reduce the loss. #2 Out of all those downloaders certainly some of them will become believers contributing to the interest income for sellaband. #3 If all those people like the artists enough to start requesting the music from their radio station, the sky is the limit.

magnusbe: streaming and downloads are 2 different things, at least in the eyes of the collecting rights societies. But yes, SellaBand has to pay for streaming to, but we have been able to make a very reasonable agreement with one of these societies. Heh, better not tell these societies how web browsers work, then.

Quite interesting news Johan, thanks for sharing it. At least I have to review my talk about SAB and don't tell about free downloading _all_ songs anymore... Anyway, with this statement, you surely have to change the "how it works" page as it says: (Artists) 06 Free Downloads Your songs will be given away for free on a download portal on our website... (Believers) 07 Make Money The music on the CD will be given away as free downloads on our download portal.... I just don't get the picture of a Believers Shop...

I dont understand the Believers Shop either. Is it something each person can change the page colors on, like on myspace?

Well, I`m SUPER relieved at what Johan has said. The Sellabandudes have obviously been listening, and applying their superior knowledge coupled with a healthy dose of common sense and fairness to the ideal. - 3 song limit free download: YAY! - Pay for better quality 50c per song: YAY! (what will the free download quality be... 96kbps? 128kbps? 98% would probably be very happy with 128kbps, and not need to buy the super quality version. - physical offline distribution: YAY! YAY! YAY!!!!! Makes sense, to increase not only the artists profile, but Sellaband's as well (and also more money for the artists/believers). - Believers shop.... don't get it either, but the more choice of where to buy, the better Am hoping that the albums will also be made available for download on iTunes etc as well. I think only the recorded artists Sellaband songs should be listed on Sellaband though. Earlier material may or may not be in the same league of quality (mostly not), so would dilute the profile.... most ppl would assume all the songs on the profile are via Sellaband.

I really like this, as storm states, looks like HQ is still listening and working on improvements. With regards to the believer shop....I'm thinking it can be something to expedite the sales of your own LE copies. Assuming I have 4 LE in the shop but only bought the parts at 49K. I would have to wait for all LE's to get sold before mine are actually gone. If a friend of mine actually buys the record from my profile, he indicates that it is my copy he's buying so I immediately get my ROI even if it is the first album sold. A good incentive for believers to convince people to have a listen and a more personal argument to buy the record from a specific shop (from his $15 he knows $11 is going to a friend)
