It just seems like too much, and the bit that YellowIbis said about what the "market will bear" annoys me somewhat. I don't see why the t-shirts should be cheaper in the US. If they were $19 (or the equivalent) I'd probably by some, but not at £20.
I'm also not sure why SAB needs to take a "handling fee" of 40%. The people will be walking around advertising SAB so couldn't SAB just look at that as free marketing and waive their cut? Oh yes, the Artist gets 60% and SAB take 40%, but of what? We all know my maths isn't great (mumble 100 words mumble) but that doesn't leave much for Spreadshirt!
That said, it is quite a neat idea, and it makes it easy for the Artist to organise quality t-shirts and the like, if the price was right.

SO Sellaband gets like three dollars for all the handeling expenses and the artists get five dollars. Jake is working out his t-shirt deal here which will be great. He is working on his sellaband designs as well. He is an artist as well and is trying to figure out how to do vectors and stuff. Jake dosn't want people to pay that much for a shirt unless it is an Amazing!! I want a shirt that looks like I paid 30 bucks for it. I like the other designs but maybe it would be better to get them mass produced so that we can have them cheaper if that is what we are paying for. Especially the sellaband shirts you know the ones with the sellaband logos on them. You know we all want one of them. I would be happier buying a shirt if I knew more of the profit was going to the artists or even to help sellaband you know. It is really convinient however in all that the artist has to do is submit designs and let the big boyz do all the work. Anyways Ill probably buy a couple too but it will hurt my wallet when I do.

To all Vegas Dragons Believers who may be interested in Vegas Dragons/sellaband t-shirts:
I am very happy with the Vegas Dragons designs that Dagmar himself worked on.
In the years ahead I hope to have some fantastic multi-coloured designs happening and a huge range of products. I have always loved Guns n Roses and Metalica's T-shirts in their artwork and their quality. I aim to offer the same cool designs in the years ahead. At the moment elabortate designs are not available through Sellaband. However I am sure as this venture becomes successful the store and variety will change.
Pricing is out of my control. I have already agreed to take a smaller cut on the profits of the gold Vegas Dragons t-shirts in order to raise the quality of the designs. Sellaband also has agreed to take a cut. For them I don't think it is about profits.
A music t-shirt is a great tool for a band to get exposure and something cool for the fan to wear. I must admit that it has been a good 7-10 years since I have bought a band t-shirt, simply due to the costs of them. I think it is a disgrace when bands want $60+ for a t-shirt at gigs that only cost them $2 to $5 to manufacture. There is a fine line between making a profit and just ripping off your fans. I don't think that Sellaband have crossed that line.
These are also the first ever Vegas Dragons t-shirts of what I hope will be 100s available in the years ahead.
With most things related to merchandising, the more you make - the cheaper it gets. If the printing on these particular shirts are done to order, it is obviously going to be more expensive to buy.
I am sure that Sellaband are keen for it to work and have priced it to where they feel comfortable. They are not out to screw anyone. They want their name out there on the streets of the world as much as Vegas Dragons does. However they want their name to be seen on a quality products and t-shirts that do not deteriate after only one or two washes and I can appreciate that.
I will be buying some Sellaband t-shirts in the months ahead to frame and put away for the Vegas Dragons museum I will one day hope to open. However as a fan of music I must just say that it is going to cost me a lot of Australian dollars to buy them. (I think $50 to $60 Australian)
That is a lot of money for a shirt and it is only that I am a big fan of Vegas Dragons that I would buy it.
With everything, pricing is a delicate issue. People will consider their options very carefully. Even the people who love Sellaband with all their hearts will have to weigh up that these t-shirts are 4 or 5 parts they could invest in artists on Sellaband instead.
I guess the market will definitely decide the fate of this venture.
Just imagine how cool it would be though if Second Person become a world wide force and you could say that you owned their first ever Sellaband t-shirt. That would have to be a wonderful item to own in the years ahead.
Vegas Loves Sellaband and the Sellaband t-shirts!!!
Thanks Dagmar and Sellaband for all your hard work.
Kind regards Brian

Why not have a second t-shirt purchase option where people can opt in to a bulk buy scheme for a discount. Once the required No. of people sign up for a t-shirt design there's a print run and everyone gets their t-shirts at a, shall we say, more competitive price. There could even be savings on postage by sending them in bulk?
They quote a one-off price, maybe quote a "buy 10" price?
Anyone know the actual cost of printing a shirt like the ones on sale (the single colour ones, like most of the Artists, rather than the dual colour SAB and Lily shirts)?
... and, if dual colour is more expensive (by presumably a couple of bucks?), how come they aren't more expensive than the single colour ones?

I would be very interested in a "bulk buy" option. Vegas Dragons is gigging in June and it would just be too expensive to sell the sellaband/ Vegas Dragons t-shirts at the gig to a punter at the price they are now.
Would love to buy 10 or 20 at a more competitive price to sell at the gigs.

There is a company here in SLC that will give us a great deal and will give most bands a great deal. One time only 12 dollars for a screen and 5 bucks for each shirt. So once the screen is made its only five bucks for the ink and the shirts. they are pretty good quality too. so Jake was thinking of charging 10-20 dollars a shirt. I think I would easily buy one for 15 or even 20 bucks. Especially if it is a rad shirt. Its a great deal and the artists are able to get most of the prophit. I really like what Sellaband is doing with the shirts but we gotta do something about the price. Here is the link to their web site its called Rocky Mountain Hard CoreThey dont have to have things vectored they just need the colors separated. Interesting stuff this t-shirt making:)
